They were all unique in their own way and helped a different cause. Despite this, they all in some way focused on bettering the community they were located in and/or all of India as well. An example of this is the Wildlife SOS and the elephant sanctuary we visited. They worked to save elephants from harmful environments and planned for the future and how to ensure they could minimize the number of elephants in danger in the future. One of their goals is to educate people in the community and bring to light the issue that has been covered up. Visiting the sanctuary and learning about the rescued elephants brought to my attention how elephants are treated in the US. Sadly, the cruelty that captive elephants endure has never been something that I have thought much about. I have been to multiple zoos and ridden an elephant before and each time they seemed to be well cared for and happy. Visiting the NGO and hearing what the guy working there had to say made me question all of these thoughts and brought to my attention how what I saw was most likely a well-thought cover-up.
